The New York State Nurses Association is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Human Resources to support their diverse organization. 

The New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) is a union of 42,000 frontline nurses and healthcare professionals united for their patients, practice, safe staffing, and healthcare. Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage recruitment, interviews, job postings, and background checks for open positions.

  • Benefits Administration: Communicate with benefits providers to ensure employees can access programs.

  • Compliance & Training: Ensure compliance with training requirements and employment laws.

  • Employee Relations & Performance: Address employee inquiries, manage performance documentation, and provide coaching to improve engagement.

  • HR Records & Documentation: Maintain accurate employee records and manage benefits, staff leaves, and performance.

  • HR Data & Insights: Analyze HR metrics and provide insights to support organizational goals.

  • HR Policies & Practices: Assist in shaping policies and implementing best practices for the healthcare sector.

  • Culture & Engagement: Promote inclusivity and initiatives to enhance staff engagement and a positive work environment.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as required.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field, with at least 7 years of HR experience, including 3+ years in roles such as Generalist or Assistant Director. Talent acquisition expertise is essential.

  • Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Expertise in employment laws (preferably in NY State) and cultural sensitivity is also required.

  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and demonstrate a "roll-up-your-sleeves" approach.

  • Commitment to Social Justice: A demonstrated commitment to social justice and promoting inclusivity in the workplace.

  • Certifications: SHRM certification is a plus.

Salary Range: $105,000 to $120,000

Location: New York City, NY. A hybrid work environment with a combination of in-person and remote flexibility.
