NPR is hiring a Senior Visual Features Editor to lead and shape the next storytelling chapter. In this hands-on editorial leadership role, you'll guide a talented team of video producers, photographers, and visual journalists to produce compelling, high-integrity content across platforms, from web to streaming.

You’ll have the creative freedom to experiment with formats like documentaries, explainers, short films, and special projects, all while mentoring junior staff and collaborating cross-departmentally.  📋 Responsibilities

• Lead the creation of video episodes, visual series, and multi-format projects

• Advise and collaborate with video producers and photographers

• Shoot, edit, and produce compelling visual content

• Manage timelines, mentor staff, and coordinate with freelancers

• Pitch fresh ideas and ensure editorial excellence across all visual content

• Help expand NPR’s presence on emerging platforms (streaming, film, etc.)

• Maintain a well-rounded visual portfolio and contribute to long-term strategy

✅ You’ll Thrive Here If You Have:

• 7+ years of editorial experience in visual journalism

• A standout portfolio of photo and video work

• Expertise in visual rights, permissions, and digital publishing

• Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, etc.)

• Strong organizational skills and experience supporting on-the-ground assignments

• Experience collaborating with editorial, legal, and security teams

🎓 Preferred Background

• Degree in journalism, film, media production, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
