Staff Counsel (Hybrid)

As Staff Counsel, you'll be a key legal advisor, ensuring legal compliance, managing risks, and supporting the leadership team in helping former players navigate their post-football journey.

Location: Hybrid – Washington, DC
Salary Range: $175,000.00 to $200,000.00 Annually

What You’ll Do:
✅ Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local laws for 501(c)(9) entities.
✅ Advise on internal policies to reduce legal and reputational risks.
✅ Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including partnerships and vendor agreements.
✅ Liaise with external legal counsel and the NFLPA for complex matters.
✅ Oversee intellectual property management, including trademarks and copyrights.
✅ Manage annual Board of Trustees meetings and related legal matters.
✅ Collaborate with the Executive Director and Managing Director on legal and operational goals.

What You’ll Need:
🔹 Juris Doctor (J.D.) and licensed to practice law in Washington, DC
🔹 7–10 years of relevant legal experience, including nonprofit or sports law
🔹 Strong experience in governance, tax compliance, and intellectual property
🔹 Proven contract negotiation skills and ability to handle complex legal issues
